Yes that tells the story as well as any stats.

Population does too. Florida is supposed to add 10 million people in the next 25 years. Texas is supposed to add 15 million people. Georgia to add 3 million. Alabama to add 1 million.

Whenever I look at the numbers, I get back to thinking that the ACC really needs to keep its presence in Florida strong and not let it get diluted with other conferences coming in. I was shocked that the Big XII decided to not go after it actually.

The ACC needs to keep an eye on South Florida. They have hired an aggressive Athletic Director like Louisville has, Mark Harlan, from UCLA. He has emphasized football and basketball as well as rising in the Director's Cup. They finished 66 last year, highest ever. He has hired Charlie Strong after the last coach won 2 bowl games. He just fired the men's basketball coach with emphasis to make basketball better. I can see him turning USF into another Louisville. His board of Trustees just approved an aggressive 5 year athletic plan. I can see a new football stadium coming. The facilities they have are top notch, linked.

The metro area of Tampa is nothing to sneeze at. It would be a very attractive venue for ACC teams to rotate through for recruiting. Yes it would elevate USF in a state we already have presence, but with 10 million more people coming in Florida, there is room. As television streaming takes over from cable, they may be a good option with all of the alumni. The school is huge.

I still like focusing on regional rivals. This would give another to FSU and Miami. Both would have to sponsor a move like this anyway. The ACC has wanted to grow Tampa as well as Orlando into ACC towns. We just had the Football Championship in Orlando. UCF is there. All worth keeping an eye on.
