I've shared that info numerous times here.
For someone who seems to "know how I feel," you haven't been paying all that much attention. If you had been, you might have learned something.
Anyhow, I think VT is in trouble and must adjust accordingly. Things like a ton of extra non revenues that cost us a ton of money is not worth our supporting for instance. Drop'em like their hot. Those kids can find places to compete in front of their moms and girlfriends at club and intramural levels. I like the Drive for 25. Seems to be helping some.
Next, if I were VT I would begin to show its disdain for the ACC haivng them so far behind even sucky programs from the SEC and B1G. I would pull an FSU and even begin to do so publicly. It's horrible.
I would use such leverage to begin to pressure the ACC into making better decisions for its football programs. I would DEMAND better schedules from them for instance. The difference in hosting FSU instead of BC is worth millions for VT, perhaps as much as $5 million. Quality home football games are what drives donations.
I would THEN begin to force their hand when deciding things like who to add next. There's one clear cut option that would greatly benefit VT. I've discussed it plenty. I would even request that the ACC begin to consider BRAND NEW approaches to things, such as contraction.
Then of course, if this new ACCNetwork does not deliver the way schools were promised it would, I would get out of the deal. I would seriously consider leaving. If it costs $50 milllion, it would be QUITE worth it. VT would make up the difference within 5 years.
Just a few thoughts. The ACC does have us in a corner right now. But, if I were VT, I would certainly not allow these guys to dig us deeper into the hole.
