Lets break down your "thoughts."
Regarding last sentence of paragraph 1, what the heck do you base that on? Of course most ADs cutting programs are in pretty bad shape. However, VT is currently $20-$25 million behind peer schools from other leagues. We are getting there. Again, a guru of all gurus is over on 247 right now telling everyone that VT simply cannot compete for top recruits anymore because of the lack of MONEY. And oh, I do feel VT has a landing spot. 3/4 of the B1G seems quite willing to play us in the burg. The SEC was quite interested in VT recently too. I think we're in better shape in that department than FSU even.
Regarding paragraph 2, VT is NOT FSU. However, VT needs to ally itself with FSU is standing up to Tobacco Road. It would MAJORLY help. Bring Clemson, Louisville, Miami on board and they WILL listen. And look at the revenue gaps. We're over 20 million behind the middle tier SEC and B1G schools. And it's not all just TV and bowl payouts. It's the fundraising. Look at what happened at Texas AandM. Their football schedule is now LOADED with quality home contests. Things like seat donations and donations in order to obtain better parking are through the rough. Say we're conservative about it and VT ONLY brings in an extra 10 million, then 5 years is plenty. And about the $5 million for a game with FSU. THAT is conservative. Look at how much the Ohio State game alone drove up ticket demand last year. THAT was a massive EVENT. Consider things like how Super Bowls generate hundreds of millions for hosting cities. Consider how ACCCG was said to generate tens of millions for Charlotte. But anyhow, a Saturday night game against a top 5 FSU is a massive draw and everyone in the Hokie Nation would be giving a bit extra in order to square away tickets. 1 game like that alone has enough power to do that. Not to mention it's worth millions to the NRV too. People don't show up for games like that 30 minutes before kickoff. Again, it is an EVENT. 5 million is conservative for what the school brings in.
And paragraph 3 is just full of more of your insults. No need to be an ahole man. It's just sports. And were Steger and Weaver "all over it" as we were getting into this mess?
