Those fans are 80 and over. Most are long gone.
The Carpenters last top 40 song was in 1981, so those fans are in the mid-50's to mid-70's. The one thing those older Notre Dame fans have that the younger fans don't have is that extra discretionary income. I know a lot of baby boomers who have saved close to a million dollars over the past 30 years while those in their 30's to 50's are spending money on monthly mortgages and college tuition. I agree that in 15-20 years that the younger Notre Dame fans of today will have the financial power. That's when Notre Dame likely joins the ACC, but right now those older folks are bringing in the most money. I'm sure some of those older Irish alumni and fans are giving larger donations after retirement. This occurs at every college.
