Re: If we go to a P-4 and 64, (ND stays Indy) who goes where?
WVU -> ACC, SEC (unlikely), or bust - ACC makes by far the most sense geographically and culturally (rivalries) and would help the conference rebalance, improve football. SEC could be a cultural fit but I don't see WVU offering that conference anything it wants or needs.
UT -> Pac12, ACC (very unlikely), or indy - cultural fit for P12 and helps bring that conference east, would also help UT to draw students from wealthy areas of SoCal, Bay area, Denver, Seattle, Phoenix. Austin is a mini-LA of sorts and they certainly can afford the travel costs. next most likely is independence: if any school can pull this off successfully going forward it would be UT because of the resources they have along with a geographically central location.Suppose ACC is possible if they truly have an interest in growing their profile on the east coast but I have a hard time seeing it.
KU -> B1G - cultural and geographic fit, large flagship, improves basketball profile, seems like a slam dunk
OU -> SEC or B1G - cultural and geo. fit, improves football brand of conference immediately, could help rebalance divisions in B1G or SEC
OSU -> SEC, B1G (unlikely), or bust - cultural and geo fit, could help rebalance divisions geographically, could be a condition of OU move but not likely
TTU -> Pac12 or bust - geographic fit, may help move P12 east but likely their only hope is to be required for UT move
TCU -> ACC (unlikely) or bust - smaller urban private could be cultural fit, could be required for UT move
Baylor -> eesh, bust - no need to go in to this
ISU -> B1G (unlikely) or bust - just not sure what this school brings to a conference aside from having Iowa as a B1G brother
KSU -> bust (SEC or B1G possible but unlikely) - why take a Kansas school that isn't KU? Could be condition for KU move.
The schools that don't get in to the P4 could go indy or join a G5 conference. WVU is already writing articles pondering independence.
