That goes back to the first point...we don't like endurance sports


Think about it, football is what you get when you take rugby, put everyone in pads, allow a forward pass, and stop the action after every play. So that way, freakishly explosive athletes excel at the sport instead of endurance athletes.

We just don't seem to care about watching players run and run and run and run. Yeah, rugby has plenty of violence, and I will stack the machismo of rugby players up against any athletes in the world (except Aussie football players...those guys are nuts). But it is still more of an endurance sport.
