Same situation I’m in

House built in 84, two story with finished room over garage. Problem I have is they put the second floor unit in the attic at the opposite end of the House than the room over garage. Hardly any air gets to this room (AC or heat) since it’s so far away from the unit.
This room tends to be 10 deg hotter or cooler than the rooms immediately next to it.

I think new homes have the hvac unit in the center of the attic (or crawl space/basement) as much as possible to prevent this.

I’ve got estimates on moving the unit to the center of my attic for more even air distribution but it’s simply not worth it to me. I just close the door to the room most of the time.
