Yup. Best grape for a dry wine


Comes from a stressed vine

Potential for warm humid summer and wet August result in sweeter fuller grapes which don’t translate to really great wines

You see vineyards on the river valleys of Europe and it makes sense

Now someone will correct me and remind me that Virginia vineyards are finding better types of grape to thrive in the Virginia climate. That is true. But with grape production being triple the cost of California grapes and unpredictable late summer weather I’d say Virginia remains a speculative wine market

There are many excellent Virginia wines. But you have to be both good and lucky to succeed
