Big 12 reports $371 million in revenues for 2017, up more than 18%

he 10-team Big 12 Conference continues to hold its own financially against many of its larger power-conference brethren, its new federal tax return shows.

The conference reported nearly $371 million in revenue for a fiscal year that ended June 30, 2017 — an increase of $57 million, or more than 18%, in its income from the previous year.

In turn, that increased the per-school payouts to roughly $34.3 million for all except Baylor, whose share is being 25% withheld pending the results of an independent review into structural changes as a result of the sexual assault scandal at the school. Conference spokesman Bob Burda said Wednesday that the conference has not yet released those funds to Baylor.

The Atlantic Coast Conference reported $373 million for fiscal 2016, distributing that money among 14 full members and Notre Dame, which maintains independence in football. The Pac-12 reported that it distributed an average of $28.7 million per school in fiscal 2016.
