Pretty valid point

Going back over the last 100 years of the highest level of English soccer, only 7 clubs who are not currently in the Premier League won championships (and all of those are currently competing in the Championship).

There does seem to be a burgeoning gap between the wealthiest clubs and the rest. In that respect, professional soccer bears a striking resemblance to American college athletics.
