You missed my point. I am not advocating that the ACC continue

to regionalize football. My point is that if the ACC is only adding UConn because it wants to see an increase in interest within the NYC market during basketball season, then it may be sacrificing see an increase in interest in the other regions of the US during football season and maybe even basketball season.

Right now the ACC's brand in basketball is pretty much set, but the conference still has some work to do in football (building depth). Add UConn may be enough to help the ACC go from #2 to #1 among the basketball conferences. However, there is also a strong possibility that the addition of UConn could prevent the ACC from closing the gap with the top 2-3 football conferences (assuming the Pac 12 is #3). There is even the possibility that the gap could widen with at least the top 2 football conferences. If the ACC finds itself perceived to be the 4th best football conference around the time the GOR is scheduled to be renewed, then it could interesting to see if any schools decide not to renew it.
