I agree with you.


However, it seems like whenever a tragic event occurs the police get blamed for not doing more to prevent the incident from happening. Given that society doesn't have a consensus on the interpretations of the current laws, I do understand why law enforcement may decide to take a more proactive position even if they are in the wrong. Even the courts can vary on their opinion of the same case.
