Or the ECAC. It is possible the super conference could be a means

to an end. For example the power conference schools may want to break away from the rest of the NCAA schools, but can't do so because of the political pressure they may receive from the state governments and/or federal government. By creating super conferences the schools may be able to create enough separation from the rest of the schools that they are immune to any political pressure. Once they separate then they break up into smaller conferences that may even be more regionally based than they are now.
