If your bike didn't come with disc brakes, there is a lot...


...of other stuff involved if you want to change over, such as rebuilding your wheels so the discs will fit. Not sure, but this may also require new hubs.

Frankly I don't think it's worth upgrading to disc brakes if your bike didn't come with them. Now if you're building a heavy duty mountain bike for inclimate weather riding...
