Late day car question - new car

looking at 2018 VW atlas. Dealer tells me I would have to pay 2-3K more than the "sale price" if I do not finance through VW. I'd prefer to use my own bank and lower rate.

any guesses on what they'd say if I offer "I'd like you to give me the VW rate even though I'm not financing through VW..."
clearly there's a lot of factors, but I want to make sure there's not something glaring that I'm missing.
(I don't want hookers, blow, a mac, and I'm already a USAA member. I'm asking about this particular finance deal, and not especially interested in feedback or recommendations on other cars that I'm considering. I used USAA car buying service, but these VW dealerships include the "VW finance price" in all of their quotes, much to the chagrin of USAA people I've spoken to) so I'm having a tricky time comparing.
