I had mine looked over from Florida.

The non-compete has to have geographical and temporal limits. Usually some court cases have decided precedents that most judges abide by if one is challenged.

Now what I found out is a lot of employers put things in there that would never hold up in court, but it's up to you to pay a lawyer if they choose to challenge you on it. They may not even take it to trial but the threat of you having to hire a lawyer and shell out some $$ can be enough to get what they want.

I had a non-poaching agreement that had no geographical limit but a 1 year time limit from the date of separation.
