Legal, sure. Better question is whether it is enforceable.


Any contract that bars you from earning a living in your field is going to be unenforceable.

Depends more on what your field is and whether it is plausible/reasonable for you to be able to get a job with a company that isn't a competitor. If there are non-competitors your could reasonably work for, then the contract would probably be enforceable..
