and it very well could be a business decision (lower profit margin, harder to clean up, etc.) that they have blamed on allergies.

but IMHO our society is spending tons of social capital (both real money and effort) on ensuring that we accommodate every small group of people, in all locations, all the time. If your life situation has specific requirements that are relatively unusual, society can't afford to accommodate you all the time. You have to make adjustments to fit in.
