Yes they have. Early 90s when my soon was in 1st grade he had to eat


lunch by himself because of his severe peanut allergy. He was the first student in Henrico County to deal with this and they had no idea what to do (in fairness his allergy is off the charts severe). They wired an alarm buzzer between his classroom and the clinic. The clinicians were trained on how to use the EpiPen we provided. The teacher had a box of sanitary wipes in the classroom and every kid wiped their hands on the way back from lunch. We kept a box of peanut free snacks there for him so he could have something when parents would bring in treats every so often. My wife and our allergist wrote the guidelines for the county to implement going forward. A lot has changed in the schools since then!
