I don't think she trashed anybody, She expressed that she was frustrated
last year and gave a very specific example for a very specific pitch. Given that she fixed it this year and the results are available publicly, I'm guessing she tried to fix it last year too. Bottom line is I'm all for being politic - she didn't name names (although it might be obvious) - but on the other hand I'm for straight talk too, not a big fan of our coaches are great, last year's coaches were great, everybody's great talk. Be straight, say it once, and then be done with it, I think Rochard spoke appropriately.
I went back and read Berman's article on the firing, and I'm sympathetic with Scot Thomas. He's been to a college softball world series, he's been to a few NCAA regionals, he's had his superstar player, he even argues he was behind helping get the facilities upgraded only to not enjoy the fruits of his efforts, (so he got his say in too...just like Rochard) and yeah, he probably bought the first bag of balls to get the program started 24 years ago. So, a tip of the hat to the guy, but 23 years is a long time and guessing he got complacent. (as we all do in our jobs) So yeah, he's not a terrible person, Surely, he was unhappy, but his comments were concilitory, he understood why Whit had to make the change, just sometimes a change is needed.
