Not really an anti-carjacking feature. Just a safety feature to keep


someone from accidentally opening the doors while the car is in motion.

Also helps make sure the doors stay closed in a crash. The doors being closed are an important part of the structural integrity of any car. Latching mechanisms have been known to fail in a crash, making the doors fly open. But that shouldn't happen if they are locked.

But the door locks are supposed to pop open after the airbag deploys. Dazed occupants or rescue workers shouldn't have to deal with locked doors after a wreck. Granted, if the wreck is bad enough, the system that unlocks the doors could possibly get compromised and you would still have a locked door.
