That said, I agree that there are people who are genuinely offended regardless of the message and I could have clarified that much earlier. Perhaps it's not the time or place to point out there is a problem but when is it? Perhaps I'm biased by my view that the flag and anthem represents the nation, not the military. Nor do I think kneeling is a sign of disrespect; it hasn't been for millennia. Nor do I think pointing out problems, right or wrong, is disrespectful. When you weigh all that it's a pretty light argument to me.

I'm not copping out that those primarily against the message are plain old racists, it's almost certainly there for some number but it's not the primary factor in the crowd. I do think there is a group that isn't interested in the problems other may face either due to their own problems, the fear they may lose something, callousness, etc. And would prefer they just shut up so we can watch football in peace.
