There are a few manufacturers around. It's kind of a hot button item right now but for good reason. Applied steadily over time it will help absorb and retain nutrients and amendments- this is over the course of a couple of years- and get your soil right for future horticultural success. As a soil amendment there's just about no way to overdo it, just keep in mind it's a bit like the seed. You want it go get to your soil layer and not get hung up in the thatch layer that you might have under your current lawn, so for "immediate" results you want to apply it either to bare soil or even till it in.
