That's certainly changed, I even suspect a lot of old school reporters


were frustrated novelists and you'd see the occasional Shakespeare quote in the weekly dogcatcher report which they inserted out of boredom.

My favorite typo was in the Washington Post referring the tv show "Downtown Abbey" I mean the Washington Post, not some teenage blogger out there.

But I do understand the nature of the game has changed, these things are running dialogues and you have to publish your first cut or you miss the moment. No one's going to be reading the revised edited version a day later (or it's just cheaper to let your readers catch stuff for you)

SI is not the SI of old, the name was purchased (along with Pat Forde, I guess to make it feel legit) and they simply hire stringers in various sports markets, I don't know if they are even employees of SI. So it could be anyone regardless of journalistic background.
