This is wayyyy too mushy, but I've always thought Hokie Nation and TSL was one big family so I'm going to share at the risk of ridicule.

When I was young, I always wanted to be sportswriter, but the only journalism school at the time was Syracuse, and there was no way this Virginia country boy was going there.

So I went to VT, majored in Business and had an awesome 40 year career in Human Resources, retiring a couple of years ago.

When this season started, I knew it was going to be challenge to see the Hokies play, so I asked Will if we could try to get a press pass for TSL that would allow me to cover the team.

Will agreed to give it a shot, and the Sports Information folks at VT have been supportive - as has Coach D'Amour.

It didn't look like the plan was going to work at Clemson, but yesterday I got an e-mail from the Tigers that said I was approved for access and today I watched my first ever game from the press box - in the visiting team radio booth no less (Jon and Mike were not in town).

So, friends, today a dream came true for a 63 year old country boy. I got to the stadium an hour and a half before the game just to savor every detail. And when I called my wife from the press box to describe it, Itotally lost it.

Yes, the Hokies loss, but it will be a day that I will NEVER, EVER forget!
