should just be given to people regardless of adverse side effects? The J&J vaccine is very similar to the AstraZeneca vaccine which has been linked to the same blood clots, mainly in women under 60, who have low platelets. I think a pause of a couple days would be a very wise decision to inform everyone of the implications and to steer women of a certain age towards the Moderna/Pfizer vaccine. It's not like this is a vaccine that is heavily relied on right now.
