That's a good question. I would guess at
stopping all vaccines for a couple days is just easier to send out then stipulating who can or can't get it for that same time frame. I think if they were going to stop giving it all together to women in that age range, they'd have gone that route immediately. But, I think J&J will be given out starting next week again with a better understanding of what to tell everyone while getting it and what to do with patients that could present symptoms.
Also, being a one shot vaccine, having a 5 day pause and rescheduling people for next week to get the shot is still faster to full vaccination than giving them the Moderna or Pfizer. I assume that's why they went with the phrasing of "going on pause". I'd be interested to hear from someone that was scheduled to get it the next few days and what they are being told now.
