I agree the presentation is terrible because media has gotten
to run with it and post crazy headlines. If you read the statement from the people who actually know things (i.e. not the NYTimes or WaPo or Fox News or whoever else is sensationalizing this) they are doing it out of an abundance of caution because you can't treat CVST with blood thinners (as pointed out above). If you went to a General Practice doctor reporting the symptoms, they'd probably give you blood thinner. A lot of the blood clots in your statistic can be treated with blood thinner and occur not in the brain.
Like saying all flesh wounds are the same. I'd much rather the flesh wound happen on the meat of my arm than on the side of my neck. The clots presented by this and AstraZeneca's vaccine occur in the brain, not randomly in the body.
