Only time will tell if Texas and its ego opt to go that route or not
I could see the Big XII agree to a Notre Dame-like deal when its contracts come up for renewal in 2023 (I think) if that is the only way the conference survives.
WRT the ACC adding another Texas school, are the other options "large enough" to justify having to deal with a "Texas island?" Everyone agrees that Texas is "Plan A" for the ACC (assuming the ACC opts to go this route). However, I don't know if everyone agrees on which Texas school(s) are included in "Plan B" where everyone would be "happy" to settle with Plan B. Plus, there may be the issue of whether the ACC can "afford" to add more private school members (i.e. Baylor, Rice, SMU, TCU) to the conference even if they are from the state of Texas. There may even be a possibility where Plan B doesn't involve a Texas school (i.e. ACC adds Oklahoma and 1 other school not named Notre Dame) because the other Texas schools don't have a high enough "value" to justify dealing with the "Texas island" particularly for non-revenue sports.
