I think the parties will at least talk.

I don't know that they will agree on an amount unless TX/OU are willing to pay the full, actual, current value (which in my opinion is what SEC/ESPN is willing to pay TX/OU in that timeframe).

So the withdrawal fee specified in the Bylaws (2 years of revenue if I read it right) plus the value of the media rights thru 2025 (if, for example, the SEC guarantees $70M/ year, then that's the value).

But that won't include any payment for the LHN which the Big 12 doesn't own...and that's where I think it will get tricky to set value. Cost savings on LHN is part of the feasibility for ESPN in what they guarantee the SEC.

And I do think FOX and ESPN would have to agree not to reduce the Big 12 payout thru the end of the TV contract, or TX/OU would have to cover that, too.

No punitive payment for TX/OU...they are following the Bylaws...it is legal to withdraw. Very possible punitive payment for ESPN for tampering/bad faith. Maybe that's where an agreement to pay out the contract in full comes in.
