The last thing ND wants ......
is greater alliance with the SEC for several reasons. First, it would challenge even further their actual competitive level. Second, the SEC goes against virtually everything that ND supposedly stands for. Finally, an alliance with the SEC would significantly hurt their other non rev/Olympic sports.
It really doesn't matter anyway as most of this talk on ALL sides is largely posturing. It is to see where the lines and common ground might be for splitting the football pie in a more equitable manner, possibly contracting out a few more freeloaders and setting the chairs at the table for a complete overhaul of college and amateur athletics as most of us have known it in our lifetimes. The SEC just got greedy and a little ahead of themselves with the first shot.
