I get a couple emails a week now from headhunters
I have never seen anything like this.
I don’t really understand it either. But let me speculate.
1. On one hand I think you have certain companies that did really well during the pandemic, and are all hiring but more than normal. Maybe this is due to growth, or inefficiency of so many white collar workers working form home, or both. I think both. Increased revenue + decreased worker efficiency = big labor shortage.
2. The part more confusing to me is the low end jobs. Am visiting NoVa this weekend for a funeral and was at Miller’s Ale House for a pseudo wake on Fri night. Probably took 90 min to eat due to them being so incredibly understaffed. Were a few $1000 stimmie checks such a big deal, that people who work in restaurants not need to work anymore?
