I don't really have any hope that things will ever be back...
...to "the way they were before." My daughter wanted a milkshake after her soccer game yesterday, so we stopped at McDonald's, which is a rare occurrence. The line wasn't very long, and we pulled right up and ordered. And then we sat for about 15 minutes and not a single customer in front of us received their food. We finally just bailed and went elsewhere.
I don't really understand what people who are not working are doing right now, unless they just have enough free government money saved up to live off for a while. But with vaccine mandates/firing of unvaccinated people, I think supply chain issues are going to be a long-term problem. Even with a "normal" sized labor force, things are backed up so badly already that it would take months, if not years, to catch up.
