UConn adds more than academics.

It adds championship quality basketball in both men's and women's. UConn runs a robust athletics department with 22 sponsored varsity sports, and UConn usually finishes in the top 60 of the Director's cup, which shows some balance. Football isn't UConn's strength, but it has potential with facilities in place.

I don't agree that BC captures the passion of New England by themselves, UConn paired with BC would help to do so. Hockey East captures New England. I've suggested a few times exploring Associate members from Hockey East that could help enhance some of the other ACC sports like lacrosse and perhaps gymnastics.

I'm OK with watching what happens to the Big XII before having the ACC act. WVU would be a great addition for the ACC if they become available. But I'd be fine with UConn as well. The two solve different geographic situations for the ACC. WVU restores long standing football rivalries that would be helpful for the ACC to restore.

And Texas is a completely different discussion.
