The Big XII will be interesting because Fox is also in the equation.

ESPN has tremendous influence on how Texas votes. Fox has tremendous influence on how Oklahoma votes. The two may have very different motivations.

I keep seeing rumors that ESPN wants to keep Fox out of the east for football. Fox has the Big East for basketball, but nothing in the east for football except West Virginia. Now they may add the Big Ten if this rumored deal goes through.

ESPN wants BYU because ESPN is already paying BYU. It wouldn't cost them much for the Big XII to add BYU.
