Texas A&M almost came into the SEC with Arkansas in 1990.

Their head football coach at the time publicly stated a desire to do so. The politics in Texas at that time were just not suitable. The Aggies have spent $450 Million renovating their Kyle Field into a palatial stadium seating over 102,000 since joining the SEC. They seem very happy exiting the role of the red head stepchild to the Longhorns.
