My contribution:

Twelve years old may be a bit too young to work young/developing muscles and tendons. For him I would stick to sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, and the like. Maybe mix in some plyometrics. Herschel Walker was given this advice for the same reason (too young). He took that advice and ran with it. I’m still not sure if he’s ever lifted weights but that is one big hombre. Your results may vary.

As for you, I suggest looking up on YouTube this guy Jeff Cavaliere/Athlean X. He is a natural body-builder as well as a certified physical therapist and has helped pro teams (Mets) and athletes.

What I like about this guy is that he will tell you- “If your’re going to do this exercise/lift and have shoulder trouble avoid doing this” and tells you why. As I get older I appreciate this guy’s wisdom. I’m enjoying lifting again b/c I’m training smarter.

So when I’m going to do a particular lift I will look him up and type in “Athlean - biceps” (for example) on YouTube and several videos will appear. While he does have an exercise/work-out plan for sale he’s not always trying to sell it to you in his videos.

Hope this helps.
