For my parents, they had the same philosophy.


Advocated living facilities and could not understand why someone would not plan for that. As they got older, something tripped in their thinking. They became fearlessly independent minded and was afraid of any stigma associated with moving to a senior facility. My sister and I often had conversations with my parents about making a move, but they dug their heels in and chose not to.

My sister and I now talk about how they changed their attitude, and we would not have to deal with our current circumstances had they followed through with their original thinking.
