Interesting explanation. I heard that scientists were working


with a couple different theories/models.

1. The Solar System will be more out further as a result of the merger;
2. The Solar System will be ejected by the new galaxy;
3. The Sun may end up too close to the Black Hole and torn apart as a result (not sure what that would mean for the planets); or
4. The Solar System ends up in the Andromeda Galaxy.

It sounds like when the merger occurs the Earth's surface will be too hot for liquid water to exist which should bring about the end of all terrestrial life unless mankind has found a way to utilize planetary engineering.
