Aside from the ACCN the conference media payout is fixed until 2035. If ESPN carries Wake vs BC it pays no more or less to the conference than if they carried Clemson vs ND. It affects ESPN advertising revenue, but it doesn't change the payout to the ACC. The only opportunity we have to increase the TV revenue is through carriage fees from the ACCN.

Whatever methods can be used to sell cable subscriptions must be pursued. If ESPN is willing to allow the best programming to appear on the conference network, we had better take advantage of that.

You are correct that there is no guarantee that fans will pay for the ACCN. But are the chances improved by airing the best games or the duds?
