You could always split the family finances


Place what is needed to pay the "regular" bills (mortgage, water, cable, phone, insurance, car payments, etc.) in one account, and make those payments from there. Place everything else in the other account, and use that for unexpected bills, clothing, groceries, meals, etc. Sit down with your wife every month to discuss where the money in the second account was spent, that way both of you are well aware where she's spending the money...lol
