Question, do you think they believe that or use it to control the masses?

The standard play in Muslim theocratic government is control education and link it interchangeable with religion and use it to ensure complete control (no different than every religion in history, but western society evolved beyond there where Islam has not). Look at how Iran has destroyed all dissent by invoking heresy laws.

I agree with what you said, but the question is, do they believe that stuff or is it the way they ensure control? If they believe it, it's terrifying because they can't be reasoned with and fear no consequences. If they just use it to control others and don't buy it, then their instinct for self preservation will prevent them from crossing certain lines.
