And I have absolutely no issue with rock-star agents charging a premium.


But there are an awful lot of agents out there who just get your house on the MLS, give you a couple tips on how to stage the house for sale, and that's about it. If that is all the seller wants, fine. But that shouldn't cost 6% of the sales price.

If the seller wants aggressive marketing, fewer days on the market, and the best sales price possible, that is certainly worth paying for a premium real estate agent.

But instead we have a system where the great agents and the bad ones are all paid the same. Sure, the great ones earn more over a year by selling more houses. But from the seller's perspective, it costs just as much to hire a lazy agent as a real one. I'd much rather be able to choose what level of service I want from my agent, and pay accordingly.
