Here is the issue with reopening (and with schools)


The data from early in this showed infections were spread across age groups somewhat evenly. And as time has gone on, the percent of positive cases for the older age groups (50+) has actually gone down as people have gone through quarantine and other preventative measures.

Where I think people should focus more is that the growth in the positive cases for the younger generations is not about the death impact. It is about the impact of spreading. The younger generations are acting as super spreaders, and they will keep this virus alive during the usual low risk season (based on flu virus known patterns) and cause a bloom in the older generations in the fall. Add on the layer that the younger generations have a lot of service jobs and it provides more opportunity for them to spread it. Yes the deaths are down right now, but almost half the country is not in that "young" demographic and is at risk of consequences from the open behavior.
