I've always been of the two drill clan


most of the things you do around the house (including drilling pilot holes if you are so inclined to drive those longish deck screws you mentioned) can be done with a fairly inexpensive cordless.

Rather than spending the big bucks on a cordless to get the torque needed for those rare jobs, I just have an old corded drill (was my grandfathers) that I use for such jobs.
