Interesting story in WSJ today on college degrees.

At a CEO rountable several CEOs mentioned their firms efforts to attract workers by eliminating the four year college degree as a requirement. Merck and IBM have done so for many job categories. I know a few of the large banks are also putting programs in place to do the same. Some utilize a test or other evaluations in place. If the large firms do this then it will likely filter down to smaller companies in my opinion. And it’s going to pressure the higher Ed world if all the sudden certain jobs open up without college as a pre requisite. My own prediction is that my grandkids (not born yet) will have a dramatically different education path that my own kids. Schools need to figure out how to provide a better cost option or they’ll not only face competition from technology but likely from employers.

Can’t link the story due to pay wall.
