Well, my two cents is that the girls seem to really like him
Obviously, everyone is different and there is no "one style fits all," that will work with every single player.
But the ladies seem to have a lot of fun. There are two players in particular that I am fairly close with and they have both said privately that he's "the best coach they have ever had."
Yes, he takes a business-like approach. There's not the craziness in the dugout like some teams, but that's certainly okay with me. He complimented Grace Chavez earlier in the year for being a "great teammate" and cheering her teammates in the dugout when she wasn't starting, so there's still a lot of excitement.
Home Runs and Strikeouts are expected, so there's not a lot of celebration and throwing the ball around and carrying on. But did you notice the dugout emptying after the walkoff versus BYU? Don't try to tell me these girls weren't having fun.
And he asks the ladies their opinions on things, so it is certainly two way communication.
In these days of the transfer portal, there is always going to be players who leave - in every single sport. In a couple of cases, the player was unhappy with their playing time and coach was candid about the future. That was the right thing to do.
I think any coach has to operate in a style that is most comfortable for him and gets the most out of his team. No two coaches are the same and neither are any two teams.
I admit I am NOT objective when it comes to Coach D'Amour. He has been really good to me and has supported my crazy endeavor, so that you folks could "get a peak behind the curtain."
I like the man and am glad he's in charge.
The future is bright.
