Remember it is not just about cable or ESPN+ subscribers. It is also about advertisers. ESPN is trying to elevate their product to the point that they can charge more for each commercial. And it is those extra revenue dollars that then get passed on to the conferences.

If ESPN is able to hand out an extra $300M to the SEC it is because they are pulling in an extra $600M+ on their end. It all trickles down.

So it is not about any one team. It is about the entirety of the "SEC product" being enhanced to sell to advertisers. And when you pull in teams that have multiple conference championships and some national championships, then you are significantly enhancing the SEC product. Which is why I have no doubt that FSU and Clemson are already being courted by both the SEC and B10 along with the ACC trying to keep them.
