NIL is so much better for colleges than direct payments.

Even the big boys would not want the money to funnel through the athletic department - too many Title iX complications once you start paying elite revenue sport athletes more than anyone else. Plus they can keep a fig leaf of amateurism.

Let the deep pocket boosters pay players directly through NIL - it is such a cleaner process for everyone involved. Schools only have to worry about keeping the athletes academically eligible, and the boosters have to deal with the IRS compliance.

Keep the conference TV money for staff, scholarships and facilities.
