One thing that may factor in is how much money has been spent by schools

Looks like Duke just upgraded their stadium about 5 years ago and spent $100M. So they may not easily give up football.

But Wake can probably easily give it up or drop down out of P5. They just don't have the size stadium, school, or budget to keep up (and their stadium is already behind with just 31,500 capacity).

I don't think the BC stadium has been upgraded in a long time and it is also smaller with just 44,500 capacity. They could probably drop out of P5 without a worry.
